Welcome to Frame and Form, Structural Design blog

Frame and Form (Structure and Form) was born with the modest desire to promote and disseminate structural design culture. The content of this blog is based on small articles where synthesized information is provided about accomplishments , events, history, contests and curiosities of marked structural works like bridges or buildings. These capsules of information intend to captivate the interest and motivate enrichment. Extra content is provided through external links and references.

This observatory project is not born with a desire for criticism. Rather for discussion and diffusion of ‘good’ structural design and the culture that surrounds it.

We believe that education is essential in creating good design., We have created this blog to learn, exploring and sharing aspects of the structural design such as, innovation, aesthetics and sustainability.

From my personal experience as a designer within structural engineering, and especially with the help of partners and friends, we hope to bring a fresh perspective that will enrich and awaken the reader's imagination.

  • Hello, I am a student of architecture, in Santiago, Chile, and I must say that your website has inspired me and enjoy, in matters of structure and architectural design. Congratulations

  • Thank you very much Juan Pablo, reactions like yours are what drives us to continue this project

  • Very interesting site and encourage you to connect to ours where you will find material of interest. Is also an entire book devoted to “tridilosas” or “waffle slabs mixed” written by M. And L Bozzo. Bozzo and published by Reverte which I think will be of your interest.

    Good job!

  • Carlos

I just discovered your site and congratulate you. I hope to have a little more time to thoroughly read all articles published.
I am a student of Civil Engineering, Canales y Puertos, specialty structures, in the absence of final thesis to complete. I wanted to leave here a question if anyone knows a Masters in Spain or in another country to collect this interest in design and the pursuit of aesthetics in engineering works.
    Thanks and congratulations again

  • Carlos, thanks for your positive comment. If you want to acquire more in the area of design, I congratulate you for your concern, many of us do not understand engineering as a design type, After the projected solutions to needs and that in my point of view is to design.

In Spain there is no master to structural engineering approach from the point of view of design, as far as I know. If there are small or graduate courses but do not think there is no consolidated. In London if there are several universities that offer master's degrees with a strong multidisciplinary and creative, I recommend you look at especially the Imperial College and AA.

  • Carlos

Sergio, thanks for your recommendations. I've taken a look and appear to have a program that fits me what I like. Now I have to study it a bit further.
