A cycle of conferences

Here I present you an interesting cycle of conferences (click on the poster to enlarge). Sergio Carratalá (Me) has been invited as lecturer and here the prologue.

…complexity, self-sufficiency, spontaneity, incompleteness and other conceptual notions constitute the backbone of a realm of studies which focuses the evolution of systems of different kinds. Scholars belonging to different disciplines are, therefore, interested in unfolding all the theoretical potentialities relating it. Architects cannot but be interested as well, as the aformentioned remarks clearly show.

So long as architecture helps people feel more comfortable and provides us with both theoretical and practical solutions for living better and enjoying our social and relational environment, it can be regarded as a part of social and environmental studies in its own right, which, as a consequence, inevitably takes care of how buildings, roads, city areas, facilities, transports and everything else may be considered of particular architectural concern best fit one another, in a complex systemic organism, whose seamless web of environmental interconnections can be suddenly fractured and possibly led to collapse.

That is why our three-days conference takes the challenge of plunging into a thorough discussion of this topic. We believe that interdisciplinary work and a wide range of different points of view will help us penetrate in depth its complelling intricacies. We invite people from different disciplines, interests and Universities to talk here, give an account of their research, freely interact, confront with each other, elaborate models and, possibly, show us how we can sort all this out. New forms of both architectural and nonarchitectural work will emerge, we aim at capturing them and give them the proper emphasis in this event…
