Bridges ancient treaties gave preference to bridges with an odd number of openings (1 or 3) justified by increased drainage capacity through a central span, and consecrated by an identification of the beauty through the symmetry of the elevation. It is rare to find an old bridge that is not symmetrical. Precisely because of this lack of symmetry,Besalú and bridges are exceptional cases Camprodón.

Besalú Bridge. Plan and elevation is not symmetrical.
However at the present time asymmetry is almost a rule obliged to seek originality (well understood). The usual is to implement an asymmetry in the cross section, through the segregation of different traffic to be transported through the bridge.
On the catwalk, as much live where pedestrians and cyclists, asymmetry is often seek through the plant; normally based on the different boundary conditions on both sides. But it is much less common asymmetry in elevation.

Bridge Camprodon. Asymmetrical cuts
The arches infinity asymmetrical bridge is a great example of how a classic, arc,can change its composition to achieve a completely original structure. Place a single cell in the channel, off-center toward the edge of Stockton-on-Tees, bridge dividing the two arches 120 and 60 m. Light may seem unjustified, especially if one considers that there is no reason for this topographical.

Puente de Gorinchem. Arches Symmetric
It seems intuitive that two equal arcs have been a more rational structure, but runs the risk of imitating existing bridge. The asymmetry in the elevation of the bridge infinity gives it uniqueness; makes it a unique and original bridge.

Infinity Bridge. Asymmetry deliberate
In such asymmetry has been added, rightly, a concave curve of union between the two arcs forming a unique trait of great plasticity. The progressive reduction of the thickness of the arc toward the ends accentuate the dynamic character arcs.

Infinity Bridge. A bow or a stroke?
All these elements makes we have a structural design where idea, shape and structure make up a drive that is very difficult to vary one of the main elements of the bridge without seriously altering its essence.
