The reciprocal structures are defined as a set of self-supported elements in a closed circuit, a fairly complete definition but difficult to digest without a good graphic example. The following image shows the simplest arrangement of a reciprocal frame: three bars that overlap to bear on each other and achieve a simple and elegant structural equilibrium.

The recently opened Metz Pompidou Centre opened in May last culminating almost 7 years of development and construction of this ambitious project. Studies Shigeru Ban and John Gastine joined forces with the structural designers Arup in order to make possible the joint vision of most important cultural center Northern France.

Yesterday was inaugurated “Kurilpa Bridge” and Brisbane, without doubt a special bridge for many reasons.
First, surprisingly, this design is the result of a design contest and play. This is a joint proposal Baulderstone Pty Ltd (construction company), Cox Rayner Architects and Arup Engineers.
